2009 Summer Program in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic
IFLA was founded to build interest in the study of finance at undergraduate and post-graduate levels for students with Latin Americas backgrounds. IFLA is also largely focused on instilling strong traits of leadership and social responsibility within our participants. The Dominican Republic is where we will launch our efforts because it is a rapidly developing nation that will be the home of the Independent Financial Centre of the Americas. This institution will be the world's first independently-owned financial center, and it's goal is to become the hub of all Latin American market activity. We want to create an environment where students are pursuing opportunities to learn about financial markets and seek opportunities to become leaders in the field. Ultimately, they will be empowered to do the same for the generations that succeed them.
IFLA will host its inaugural seminar this summer for university students interested in learning more about capital markets, finance, and leadership development. During this week long seminar held in San Pedro de Macoris, students will be exposed to a curriculum that includes business case studies, stock market simulations, and externships at the Dominican Stock Exchange. We will also feature service projects and leadership exercises that will highlight the importance of being socially responsible business leaders.
After reading this letter I hope you have a clear understanding of what IFLA is trying to accomplish and how we intend to go about doing it. We are looking to family, friendS, colleagues and other supporters to contribute to our non-profit organization so that we can fund our week long summer program. 100% of donations will be applied to direct costs of offering the program. Please visit our www.iflamericas.org to learn more about us and also to understand the impact the your donation will make on our ability to carry-out our mission.
